Geneva Co., Ala.Colbert Richmond (C.R.) Sorrells of North County Road 69, Hartford died
Sunday night, Nov. 9, 2003 following an extended illness. He was 87.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 2p.m. at Shiloh
Baptist Church with Minister Bobby Morgan, and Minister Hosea Paeker
officiating. Mr. Charles Johnson, Mr. Sorrells' nephew, will give the eulogy
Burial will follow in Shiloh Church Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of
Slocomb directing.The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 - 8 p.m.
At other times the family will be at the family home at 1322 North County
Road 69 in Hartford. Because of his love for flowers, floral gifts will be
accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the cemetery fund at
Shiloh Church, 873 North Shiloh Road, Hartford, Ala. 36344.He was born Sept. 20, 1916 in Geneva Co., Ala. to the late Edward R.
Sorrells and Alice Hagler Sorrells. He lived his entire life in the Kinsaul
and Dundee comunities where he was engaged in the grocery business and
farming. He greatly enjoyed being with other people, especially his family
whom he loved very much. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.Mr. Sorrells was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fauna Smith
Sorrells; brothers, Raymond Sorrells and Etheridge Sorrells; and sisters,
Essie Belle Johnson and Dorothy Watkins. The family would like to express
their thanks to Wiregrass Hospice of Enterprise for the love and care shown
to Mr. Sorrells during his illness.Survivors include his daughter, Linda Bedsole and her husband, James of
Malvern; two sons, Sammy G. Sorrells and his wife, Brenda, and Randy
Sorrells all of Hartford; brother, Glin Billy Sorrells and his wife Jeanette
of Hartford; sister, Gladys Dixon of Hartford; granddaughters, Amy Baine,
Angie Gillian and her husband Mat; grandsons, Chad Sorrells and wife Jamie,
Mark Bedsole and his wife Dusty; great grandchildren, Samantha Sizemore,
Stephen Baine, and Colbert (Cole) Richmond Sorrells; sister - in - law
Evelyn Smith of Clayhatchee; several nieces and nephews each who held a
special place in his heart.Nephews will serve as pallbearers; Randall Johnson, Jimmy Sorrells, Jerry
Sorrells, Maylon Eldridge, Edward Woodham and Cliff Ford.
